New Haircut! Bangs Galore.

Hi!  So I just got a new haircut today and I thought I would share some pictures of it.  The picture I brought into my stylist as inspiration was one of these of Mischa Barton:

And here is my hair…

3 Easy, Quick, Everyday Hairstyles

I got inspired to do these looks from a post I found on called “Quick Twist” found here .   The look was supposed to be for only people with short or medium length hair but I modified it a bit to work for longer hair as well.  Hope you enjoy!

How to get the Perfect Side Swept Bangs: 2 Techniques

I have two different techniques I use to get my side swept bangs to swoop across my forehead perfectly.  The first one is better for longer bangs and the second is better for shorter bangs.

Technique #1:  Flip bangs to opposite side while blowdrying.   This makes your bangs want to lay against your forehead.  When you are done blowdrying your hair,  flip them to the correct side and they swoop just right.

Technique #2:  Wrap your bangs around a large round brush and spin the brush in a downward spiral.  This gives you more voluminous bangs than the previous technique.

Technique #2

Summer Tank DIY: How to cut an old t-shirt into a bandeau ready tank

I have been IN LOVE with all the loose fitting tanks with large armholes lately for several reasons.  First, they give you an excuse to have a break from our daily torture devices [underwire bras] and opt for a fun colored bandeau instead.  Secondly, I’m pretty sure this is the only way to layer in summer and still be [somewhat] comfortable in 90+ degree weather.  And, finally, they just look fab.

So after buying several of these, I realized that they would be really easy to make myself.  I went to my local thrift store and bought this tee for $3.   To outline where I would be making the cuts I used a white eyeliner because that’s what I had laying around, but you could always use chalk, a regular pencil or whatever else you can dream up.  Anyways, the video below shows you the details!

Flashback Fridays

Hi Friends.  I thought I would start devoting a post every friday to videos I did before I started my blog.  People have often asked if I had a place to post pictures of the hairstyles I did so they could reference them easily without going through the whole video…now I do!  Sorry the picture quality isn’t that great.  These are screen shots of the video that was on my old camera.  Anyways I hope you enjoy!

My Natural Everyday Makeup Routine

Your daily makeup routine should accomplish three things:

  1. It should not make you late.
  2. It should not break the bank.
  3. It should make you feel beautiful.

To accomplish number one I keep my daily routine down to 4 products which include foundation, eyeliner, mascara and a lip product.  You may be saying, “But, Sash, in your video you used blush and inner corner highlight.”  Well, to be perfectly honest, most days I just say, “Screw it.”  Unless I am looking particularly sickeningly white in the middle of winter, blush usually gets thrown out the window.  The inner corner highlight is for days when I need an extra spring in my step.  So overall the 4 product system allows me to look presentable but also gives me time for more important things like sleep.

From the time I was a fashion loving tween I was scouring the sale aisles.  Being smart with money was something I was taught from a young age and, frankly, going on the quest for a quality item that is also affordable is fun.  All the items in this video are drugstore:

  • Foundation: Revlon Colorstay 180 Sand Beige
  • Eyeliner: Femme Couture Baked Cake Eyeliner (Sally Beauty)
  • Mascara: Covergirl LashBlast in black
  • Eye shadow: Loreal Frosted Icing 901
  • Blush: elf in flushed
  • Lips: Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Watermelon

Finally, the makeup you do everyday should make you feel your best.  For me that means covering up the blue veins underneath my eyes,  making my lashes look extra long and ensuring my lips aren’t cracking.  Super simple and natural make up makes me feel beautiful, but for other women having a bright lip makes them feel they can stand out in a room or having smoldering eye makeup makes them feel sexy.  I say find a makeup routine that makes you feel awesome about yourself and spend the few extra minutes in the morning on it.  Having that little extra boost of confidence can really make a difference on how you feel about yourself all day long.
